Introductory Classes and Courses on Buddhism and Meditation

Buddhism & Meditation Introductory Courses

These eight week courses are run on Tuesday evenings and provide a comprehensive introduction to both meditation and Buddhism.

Dates for the year 2010:

  • 12th Jan
  • 9th Mar
  • 4th May
  • 6th July (this one will be a shorter 4 week course)
  • 7th Sept
  • 2nd Nov

Classes start at 7.30pm and finish at 10pm.

In the course we look at the life of the Buddha, how he described our own lives, the practices of loving kindness and generosity, Karma and rebirth in Buddhism and the nature of Nirvana.

Introductory courses are followed by a Wednesday night continuation course for those who are interested in taking things further.

Meditation drop-in classes

This class is suitable for complete beginners or for those with some experience of meditation. The class runs throughout the year.

Class times
Tuesdays: 1.05 - 1.55pm & 7.30 - 8.30pm
Fridays: 1.05 - 1.55pm (from 6th March 2009 onwards)

We teach two meditations at the Nottingham Centre. The 'mindfulness of breathing' is a meditation for developing clarity and awareness. The 'metta bhavana' is a practice for transforming our emotions, and for cultivating positivity and openness towards ourselves and others.

You can come to the class for one week, or keep coming for a number of weeks to gain a fuller experience of meditation. There's no need to book, just turn up at the Buddhist Centre. If you want more information please contact us.
